The Forgotten Outfit Of The Festival: Strangeness & Charm

If you are a regular festival person, you will find two types of people there: those who wear whatever feels comfortable (aka looks good when thrown into mud at 3am) and don't give it much thought, as well as the ones that plan their outfits a year ahead and you can just see how hard they've tried.
After looking at the photos above, you can easily guess which category I naturally fall into.
As this 1st day outfit I considered to be my most successful this year, I will now present to you all of its components, so you realise how much preparation this actually took (not that I am complaining, I absolutely love outfit planning!).
If you can recognise any familiarity between my creation here and Florence Welsh's style, you are spot on with your thinking. Most of Florence + the Machine fans are however thrown together in the 'floral crown' sack, but for me it was merely an accessory that pulled everything into one.
The main event has to be this Bollywood-esque sheer floor-length top I've had in my second hand treasure chest for ages and never quite knew what to do with it. It looked bad with nude under-dresses and bras, and obviously it needed something underneath.
I finally opted for simplicity (what now?) and composed a black two-piece out of a schoolgirl pleated skirt and a triangle soft bra. And it WORKED. Because of the casual base, the top was not as extravagant and fancy-dress-rental as it is solo, and the added heavy black combat boots turned me into somewhat of a toothfairy that rebelled.
Delicate embroidery paired with grunge is to me a basic move for anyone who wishes to fit into the overall slouchy-yet-elegant vibe that is so obvious in festival fashion. Floral dresses and doc martens, ripped jeans and sequin tops - you get the gist.
As the flower crown was still too mainstream for me (if you've ever been to Florence's concert, you'll know what I mean by 'a multitude of meadow maidens'), I grunged it up even more with layered silver jewellery and a massive hit of summer '16 - a black choker.
A crooked sticker bindi to keep with orientalspiration, a pair of wicked sunnies and a fake septum ring -
that's the way to do festivals the harder way, ladies and gentlemen.
Till next time,
