OOTD: Paisley Old Lady

Necklace and boots - H&M/ the rest is thrifted

There are trends that go together like bread and butter and styling them is easier than breathing.

There are also ones that are stunning on their own, let's say cowboy boots or leather trousers, but then spend the rest of their sad garment lives buried deep in your closet, as you have absolutely no idea what to wear them with and they make you miserable.

Sounds familiar?

I've been there too many times, until I've learned to accept challenging clothing as it comes and instead of worrying too much, simply have fun pairing it with other things to find the combination that suits me and creates a whole.

And that's basically the story behind this outfit.

I started not with the base, but with the statement bomber jacket in a light, silky material - a trend that's been on the mouth and shoulders of many for the past few months, and something tells me it is not going anywhere yet. It comes in a variety of fabrics and styles and can be worn chic, sports lux or  even very 'varsity' casual - all depends on what you style it with.

That is the tricky part to some. My take on the bomber was mostly minimal and elegant, but had a few twists that make it edgier.

I picked an LBD to be the bare, plain canvas for my creation. It is a bodycon one, as I felt like a floaty dress with an oversized jacket would just swamp my figure a little bit. Then came simple black boots and gloves to keep with the leather theme.

In terms of accessorising, I chose a white mohair beret - quite an unusual, eye-catching one that highlighted the white in the b/w bomber perfectly. The statement necklace finished off a slightly boring neckline and pointed out the elegant direction I wanted to head in.

As a bit of a funkier twist to the monochrome simplicity of the look, I topped it all with red-tinted lennon glasses - it ended up creating a mixture of feminine, rock-chic and tough, which I felt as comfortable in as fish in water.

I hope this post helps those of you, who own amazing stuff but are slightly intimidated by it. Remember - fashion is for fun, make the most of the pieces you've got!

Have an awesome week,
