Food Heaven: The Breakfast Club, Hoxton.

I never expected to enjoy someone elses pancakes as much as I do my own (so modest, I know) but these just took this American experience to a whole new level and made my last few hours in London unforgettable.

I heard about The Breakfast Club before and read opinions on it on loads of UK blogs, but while being in Poland I could only dream about ever eating there. However, dreams do come true sometimes and just when my London trip was coming to an end, I managed to finally eat there.

The greatest thing is probably the fact that you can have a full English, a toast or those dreamy pancakes whenever you want- that's what me and my friend did, as 3 pm is the perfect time for breakfast. The interior design has an eclectic feel to it, it's very cosy and warm and the huge tables where you sit with strangers make it a hell of a different experience- it's hard to have your own little corner for only two people, especially when you have to wait in a queue for half an hour like we did. I didn't mind it though, it was definitely worth it because of what came after we ordered…

The pancakes came in the speed of the lightning which was very surprising considering the fact that the restaurant was full of people and new guests were constantly coming in. For the price of 8 pounds I didn't expect a big portion as it is a trendy place in London and they charge you a lot for nothing, but frankly I had trouble eating the whole portion- we both received a huge plate with FOUR massive and incredibly thick pancakes, covered in a generous amount of maple syrup and crispy bacon (or, in Marta's case, a dollop of vanilla cream and fresh berries).

These pancakes were not fried in the traditional American way, you could tell from the texture that no melted butter was added to the batter- they were fried on an greased pan. It did not make them any less delicious, however I usually fry them on a non-stick pan as I prefer when they are completely golden brown on both sides. We ordered the cheapest drink which was a classic ice tea with mint, not too amazing but it made it easier to demolish this huge pile of super sweet goodness. Next time I will definitely try one of the milkshakes or smoothies as they looked incredible.

I'll be going now as I'm drooling just from looking at these photos. Hopefully, they have the same effect on you. If you've ever had an experience in any of The Breakfast Clubs in London, do let me know if you enjoyed it :)

Pancake kisses,
